Etymology of Yadadri
Yadadri means Yada+ Adri . Adri means in Sanskrit Language Hill. Yada is derived from a Great Sage name Yada Maharishi. once upon a time sage Yada did penance on this hill and got appearance of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha. since that this holy hill has been called as "Yadadri" and later it's turned into Native Telugu Language form by known as "Yadagiri Gutta" . Here the words Adri, Giri, Gutta gives the same meaning i.e Hill.After formation of Telangana State, on Chief Minister Sri Kaluvakuntala Chandra Shekar Rao requests, spiritual guru Sri Sri Sri Tridandi chinajIyar Swamiji named this place again as "Yadadri" which is the same as in Tretayuga period.
As per Temple legends, In Tretayugam there lived a Great Sage by named Yada Maharishi who is the son of Sage Rishya Srunga. Sage Yada rishi did penance in a cave which situates near this hill, for the appearance of Lord Lakshmi Narasimha. After pleased the dedication devotion of Said sage, The Lord Narasimha Swamy appeared before him in the shape of above said 5 Forms and blessed the Yadarishi by granting boons. At the request of Sage Yada the lord made the hill as his abode and started to bless the visiting devotees. There on wards The said hill has been known as "Yadari" and deity called as "Yadadri Lakshmi Narasimha Swamy" . After that Lord Lakshmi Narasimha has taken the role of a Doctor and was known as "Vaidya Narasimha" by his devotees at this shrine to cure many chronic diseases including the patients who suffering mental in balances under the influence of Graha Dosha. Numerous instances are cited of the lord appearing in the dreams of the devotees with administering medicines and blessing them with good health. Many devotees remember theirvarious dreams in which the lord came to cure them from chronic or temporary illness as well as mental problems. Ther is a practice of Mandala (40 days) pradakshina which devotees believes that they get cured from all diseases, by following it. As such gradually the Temple got become very popular and presently it's collections are in crores rupees which is a scale to estimate popularity of the temple.
